Goblin Valley Hike Report

June 8. 2018

Hikers:  Derek Hansen, Weston Hafen, Kelton Andrewsen, Hunter Hafen, Jared Altman, Jack Wilkey

Report: We left for this hike at about 7:30 this was good because it was very hot. And then hiked to the cave for a break and  to make a movie. We hiked about 1.5 miles to the head of the trail for the goblins lair hike. This was so that we could do the hotter parts of the hike in the cool mornings.

This is a very good hike for beginners because it  is just lots of different little hikes that you can connect together. For this hike you need lots of water (about 3 liters). This is a very fun hike because you get to play on all of the cool rock formations that have been forming over a long long time. On one of the little hikes that is called goblins lair, you hike to this super cool cave that is really big and cool.

This hike took about 4 and 30 minutes. From of the hikes they did not add up to 10 so we walked for about 1.5 miles after doing all of the little hikes and playing on the goblins in goblin valley

goblin valley is really cool and really fun to play on

Ding and Dang Hike Report

June 7, 2018

Hikers:
Derek Hansen, Weston Hafen, Kelton Andrewsen, Hunter Hafen, Jared Altman, Jack Wilkey

Report: This is not a hike for  beginners. If you are a beginner do only ding.  It is really fun for hikers because you can go up lots of big rocks. Go up ding and down dang. takes about 4.5 hours to do the loop. we added on 3 miles extra to get to ten. total amount in miles for ding and dang. we used about 2 to 3 liters.  Cool drop off in dang about 10 to 15 feet down.  We left at 7:30 and ended at 12:00. It is really shady in the canyon but hot for the frist 1.5 miles. It is very rocky.  there is a 1 mile gap from ding to dang.

doing ding first is better than doing dang. dang is harder with more obsticals and you have to walk threw water.

Little Wild Horse Canyon Hike Report

June 6, 2018

Hikers: Derek Hansen, Weston Hafen, Kelton Andrewsen, Hunter Hafen, Jared Altman, Jack Wilkey

Report: This is a very fun hike. It is very important to think about the time. We left at 7am and it was good that we did this. Instead of doing little wild horse canyon first, we did bell canyon first because we could do a he hottest part during he cooler morning hours.

Make sure to bring about 3 liters of water and lots of food. Most of us are 2 sandwiches and granola bars. Also, make sure to have a hat with you and sunscreen also so you will not get sunburned. The hike is really fun so be prepared for the hike of your life. Also watch out for any water. When we went there was only a small puddle or two.

It took us 4 hours and 15 minutes, and that included stopping to eat a couple times and exploring a bit. We went an extra mile at the end so we would finish 10 miles total.

We saw cool rocks, antelope, jackrabbits, lizards, and lots of scrub oak. Some bushes were growing right out of the rock. Westin skinned his knee a bit, but nobody else was injured. There were a few slippery spots, so bring shoes with good traction. We didn’t see anyone else until after entering the narrow part of little wild horse canyon. We passed maybe 20 people total. The upper parking lot was about 2/3rds full. There is a toilet at the parking lot, but bring your own toilet paper.
